Peter Ansoff

President

North American Vexillological Association

Peter Ansoff lives in Northern Virginia and retired in 2018 after a career as a support contractor for the US Navy. He served as president of the North American Vexillological Association from 2004 to 2008 and was elected again in 2017 (He refers to himself as “the Grover Cleveland of NAVA.”) His interest in flags began when he was about 7 years old, living in Los Angeles, where the down-the-hill neighbor had a big flagpole in front of his house. Peter wanted one too, so his father found him a bamboo pole, a pulley, and some rope and his mother bought him an American flag and sewed him a couple of others. The rest, as they say, is history. Peter’s special research interest is Revolutionary War flags, and he has written several research papers on related topics.
