George Ayittey is the founder and President of the Free Africa Foundation. His areas of expertise include economic development, the World Bank, the IMF, and Africa’s democratization.
He is the author of several books, including Africa in Chaos, Indigenous African Institutions, The Blueprint for Ghana’s Economic Recovery, and Africa Betrayed, for which he won the 1992 H. L. Mencken Award for Best Book.
Professor Ayittey holds a B.S. from the University of Ghana, an M.A. from Western Ontario, and a Ph.D. in Economics from the University of Manitoba.
