Eric C. Graf

E. C. Graf was born in Dallas, Texas. His PhD is from the University of Virginia and he has taught at Smith College, the University of Chicago, the University of Illinois, the College of William & Mary, Wesleyan University, the Universidad Francisco Marroquín, and the Universidad del Valle de Guatemala. He has written essays on the POEMA DE MIO CID, Garcilaso de la Vega, San Juan de la Cruz, El Greco, Miguel de Cervantes, Juan de Mariana, Pedro Calderón de la Barca, José Cadalso, Sigmund Freud, Vicente Aleixandre, and Julio Cortázar. CERVANTES AND MODERNITY (Bucknell UP, 2007) investigates DON QUIJOTE’s relation to Antiquity via the influence of Apuleius and Sulpicius Severus, and its relation to the Enlightenment via its influence on three major philosophers: Voltaire, Benito Jerónimo Feijóo, and Thomas Hobbes. He is currently working on a second book, NEOPLATONISM AND RACE IN THE SPANISH
