The Cato Institute seeks a Staff Writer to report on Cato events for several publications, select excerpts from speeches and panels for CatoAudio, write articles about books and events for Cato Policy Report, edit transcripts for Policy Report and Cato’s Letter, write the Annual Report, and assist the executive vice president with research and programs.
Applicants should have strong writing ability (journalistic, not scholarly) and a commitment to liberty and limited government. The Staff Writer gets to attend virtually all Cato events in Washington and plays a central role in the Institute.
Want to affect public policy at one of many non-profit organizations across the country? Liberty@Work is a full-time job and professional development program for individuals who want to be advocates for freedom at the state level.
Through the program, participants will work full time as employees at one of many public policy organizations located in cities across the nation. In addition to having a substantive job, participants will engage in half a day of training each week. Through interactive video technology, employees of various organizations will come together to participate in group projects, workshops, reading discussions, and more, all aimed at making participants more effective advocates of liberty.
On Campus Education Manager
Ideal candidates will possess a firm, interdisciplinary grasp of classical liberal ideas and no less than 3 years of experience in liberty advancing non-profits or in the field of higher education.
Candidates must have prior experience managing projects, 2-3 years of management experience, the ability to drive timelines to meet deadlines and an unwavering attention to detail. In addition, candidates should possess a strong understanding and passion for classical liberal principles (individual rights, free markets, limited government, voluntarism, and peace).
